Empowering students and teachers to navigate Artificial Intelligence

Launch of the CVEinAI project. The AI at the core of Virtual Exchange between African and European Higher Education Institutions

Empowering students and teachers from Africa and Europe to navigate Artificial Intelligence

In a time when Artificial Intelligence (AI) is profoundly transforming our societies and economies, the newly launched “Critical Virtual Exchange in Artificial Intelligence – CVEinAI” project aims to place ethical reflection and critical thinking at the heart of this technological evolution. Co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, this three-year project brings together universities from Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa to promote responsible and inclusive approaches to AI.

Led by the University of Padova, the CVEinAI project gathers a consortium of 8 full partners: UNICollaboration, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Mediterranean Universities Union – UNIMED, University of Botswana, Adama Science and Technology University, Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, and Maseno University.

These institutions will implement the Critical Virtual Exchange (CVE) methodology to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, offer virtual exchange opportunities and facilitation trainings, and deliver upskilling workshops to 2,500 students and 50 educators.

The project also benefits from the engagement of several associated partners, including Makerere University, Murang’a University of Technology, Bomet University College, University of Namibia, Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, University of Media, Arts and Communication, Bahir Dar University, South East Technological University, University College Cork, Bordeaux University, Coimbra University, National School of Political and Administrative Studies, and Culture Beyond Borders.

Through this collective effort, CVEinAI aspires to shape a new generation of students and educators who are not only technologically proficient but also ethically conscious and globally connected.

The project started on the 1st of February 2025, and will last 36 months. Follow us to know more about the next steps! You can also find us on LinkedIn.
